Turkiye: Air traffic controllers staging work-to-rule strike at Antalya Airport through June 30
Air traffic controllers staging work-to-rule strike at Antalya Airport, Turkiye, through June 30. Some flight delays reported.
Flight delays and other disruptions are likely at Antalya Airport (AYT) through at least June 30 as air traffic controllers (ATC) employed at the facility continue their ongoing work-to-rule strike. The Turkish ATC Union (HTK-SEN) launched the action on June 20 as part of a push for improved salaries, benefits, and working conditions for its members. A similar work slow-down that occurred June 7-17 reportedly reduced the number of on-time departures and arrivals at AYT by about 50 percent. As of June 22, Eurocontrol is reporting moderate to high delays at AYT with arrivals being regulated due to reduced air traffic control capacity.
Despite the increased potential for flight disruptions, the strike is unlikely to become crippling. AYT is Turkiye's third busiest airport, with traffic reaching over 35.5 million passengers in 2023.
Contact airlines to reconfirm specific flight schedules if booked to travel via AYT through June 30. Plan business travel agendas accordingly to allow for increased potential for late departure/arrival.
