Activists plan to protest in central Gothenburg, Orebro, and Stockholm Aug. 24. The purpose of the demonstrations is to demand a nationwide ban on Islam. It was not immediately clear how many participants may attend. The following protests are planned:
Gothenburg: Protest at Gotaplatsen from 11:00.
Orebro: Protest at Stortorget 10:45-13:30.
Stockholm: Protest at Odenplan 10:45-13:30 with a march through the surrounding area.
Additionally, the following counter-protests are planned:
Orebro: Counter-protest at Stortorget from 11:00.
Stockholm: Counter-protest at Sergels Torg from 10:30.
Heightened security is likely near the protest sites. Localized transport disruptions are likely, particularly in the area of the Stockholm march. Low-level confrontations between law enforcement officers, protesters, and counter-protesters cannot be ruled out.
Avoid the affected areas as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near the protest site. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign that any security disturbance may occur.
