Hundreds evacuated following fire in Holiday Inn Express hotel in Pattaya December 6; continued transportation disruptions possible

A fire broke out at the Holiday Inn Hotel in Pattaya (Chonburi) on the morning (local time) of Friday, December 6, prompting the evacuation of at least 400 people. The incident was reported around 04:30 and reported to be under control around 05:00 after rescue teams were deployed onsite. No casualties has been reported. The source of the fire remains unknown.
Residual transportation disruptions and a heightened security presence are expected in the area over the coming hours.
