A serious firearms incident that began at around 18:10 Aug. 12 resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries in Plymouth's Keyham neighborhood; the incident reportedly occurred in or near Biddick Drive. Preliminary reports suggest as many as six people may have been killed in the shooting but police have not yet confirmed exact casualty figures. The assailant in the shooting was reportedly shot by police and is believed to have died. Police are not treating the incident as being terror-related but many details remain unclear.

Authorities have closed several roads and have cordoned off the area. Heavy security and localized transport disruptions are likely in the vicinity of Keyham through at least early Aug. 13.
