The Bangladesh Covered Van-Truck-Prime Mover Freight Owners Association and the Bangladesh Truck Drivers Association had launched the action Sept. 21 to demand several concessions from the government, including reduced taxes on vehicle owners. Organizers initially planned to continue the work stoppage until 08:00 Sept. 24; however, the action was ended Sept. 22 following talks with government representatives.

The strike impacted goods transport to and from Chittagong Port. Lingering shipping and supply chain disruptions are possible in the coming days.
