Informational

Event

The Public Works Department announced that water disruptions are occurring in parts of Brunei-Muara District as of the morning of Oct. 12. The agency attributed the disruptions to cloudy water from the Tutong River that required a longer treatment process. The affected areas, which may experience low water supply, include Berakas, Kota Batu, Lambak Kanan, and Lumapas sub-districts. Officials have advised residents in Berakas and Lambak Kanan to stockpile water and limit water consumption. Authorities are also providing water tanks in the affected areas.

Business disruptions are possible during water outages, especially for companies that rely on large quantities of municipal water for their operations.

Advice

Stock up on drinking water and confirm alternative water supplies for business operations. Use only bottled water from reputable suppliers for drinking and hygienic purposes. Pressure and water quality may be poor after service resumes; run taps for several minutes before using water. Minimize nonessential water use throughout the outage.
