An explosion occurred in a bus at Barangay New Isabela, Tacurong City, Sultan Kudarat Province, morning Nov. 6. Reports indicate that at least one person died and 10 others were injured in the incident. Unconfirmed reports indicate that an IED caused the blast. No group has claimed responsibility for the blast.

Tacurong City is around 80 km (50 miles) north-northwest of General Santos City.

Context

Explosions targeting civilians are rare in the Philippines, including in Mindanao. While no group has claimed responsibility for the incident, the Islamic State-affiliated Jihadi militant group Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) and the communist armed wing New People's Army (NPA) are known to be active and have staged bombings in Mindanao.
