A suspected IED explosion has been reported near a police station in Mandera Town, Mandera County, March 25. No one has claimed responsibility for the suspected attack, but it could possibly be linked to Al-Shabaab militant presence in the area. Authorities are pursuing suspects. Casualties have been reported, but amounts remain unconfirmed.

Increased security is likely in the coming hours as authorities investigate the explosion. Localized transport disruptions are likely. Increased security or temporary closures at the border are also possible. Similar attacks and clashes with security forces are possible near the Kenyan-Somali border.

Mandera Town is about 320km (200 miles) northeast of Wajir.
