Adverse weather causes flight disruptions at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas, Nev., US, March 15; lingering delays likely.

Warning

Lingering flight disruptions are likely at Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) and other airports in and near Las Vegas, Nevada, due to adverse weather conditions that have affected the area March 15. Hundreds of flights have been delayed and dozens of others have been canceled at LAS amid the severe weather. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has issued a ground delay program at LAS due to low ceilings that is slated to remain in effect until at least 23:59; the FAA may modify or rescind the ground delay program on short notice. Flight departures to LAS were reportedly delayed by an average of 118 minutes as of around 17:00.

The FAA may issue additional weather-related ground delay programs and/or ground stops for airports in the Las Vegas area over the coming hours. Residual disruptions are possible even after weather conditions improve as airlines work to clear passenger backlogs.

Confirm flights if scheduled to travel via LAS or another airport in the Las Vegas area. Do not check out of accommodations until onward travel is confirmed. Consider making alternative arrangements for time-sensitive travel if necessary.
