US: Weather-related flight disruptions likely to continue at central and south Florida airports March 27

Lingering weather-related flight delays and cancellations likely at airports in central and south Florida, US, March 27.

Flight delays and cancellations are likely at airports in central and south Florida well into the evening of March 27 due to thunderstorm activity and traffic management initiatives in the region. As of around 17:00, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has issued ground stops at Tampa International Airport (TPA), Orlando International Airport (MCO), and Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport (SRQ), as well as departure delay programs at Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW), Miami International Airport (MIA), and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL), with delays up to 150 minutes.

The FAA may issue additional ground stops and/or ground delay programs for airports in central and south Florida over the coming hours. The air traffic control measures could be extended or rescinded on short notice.

Confirm flight schedules of booked to fly via an airport in central or south Florida through at least the end of March 27. Do not check out of accommodations until onward travel is confirmed. Consider making alternative arrangements for time-sensitive travel if necessary.
