Warning

As of late afternoon April 16, authorities are diffusing a WWII-era bomb at the Eastern Industrial Area (Industriegebiet Ost) in Rastatt. A 1-km (1,094-yard) evacuation area is in effect around the operation site. Authorities have closed the A5 and B462 highways, the Karlsruhe-Basel railway line, and the airspace over the affected area.

The evacuation order, heightened security, and transport disruptions will continue until authorities give the all-clear.

Avoid the affected area as a standard precaution. Reconfirm travel on the Karlsruhe-Basel railway line. Strictly heed all instructions from authorities.
