Unionized teachers are demonstrating at the Consejeria de Educacion on Calle de Alcala as of the evening of April 22. The purpose of the demonstration is to demand improved working conditions. At least several hundred participants and an increased police presence are reportedly at the protest site.
Heightened security and localized transport disruptions will continue in the coming hours until the demonstration ends. Though unlikely, low-level confrontations between protesters and law enforcement officers or frustrated motorists cannot be ruled out.
