Informational

Activists affiliated with the Melilla Confederation of Entrepreneurs (CEME) are protesting at the Government Delegation (Delegacion del Gobierno) building on Avenida Marina Espanola in Melilla as of evening April 18. The purpose of the demonstration is to demand the return of certain social security benefits. While it remains unclear how many participants the event has draw, preliminary information suggests between 150-250 persons are attending the demonstration.

Heightened security and localized transport disruptions at the demonstration site and in surrounding areas. Protesters may attempt to march to other areas of the city. Low-level confrontations between demonstrators and law enforcement officers or frustrated motorists cannot be ruled out.

Avoid the protest area as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near the Government Delegation. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign that any security disturbance may occur.
