US: Authorities responding to tornado damage in parts of Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Texas states as of early April 29

Emergency response ongoing as of early April 29 following tornado damage in parts of Midwest, especially Okla., US. Casualties reported.

Warning

Emergency response operations are ongoing as of early April 29 after at least 30 tornados struck areas throughout the Midwest, including Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Texas states April 27-28, with the worst damage reported in Oklahoma State. At least five people were killed, and 100 others were injured. Storm damage, likely caused by tornadoes, has occurred across several locations, including Sulphur, Oklahoma, one of the worst-hit areas. The Governor of Oklahoma has declared a state of emergency for at least 12 counties in the state.

Tens of thousands of customers were left without power due to the severe weather; power has been restored in some areas. Disruptions to ground travel, business operations, and electricity are likely, at least over the coming days, in the affected areas.

Monitor local media for updated emergency and weather information. Be prepared to quickly move to a safe location if new warnings are issued. Postpone driving until weather conditions improve. Charge battery-powered devices in case prolonged electricity outages occur. Strictly heed the instructions of local authorities.
