Toby Chinn

Toby Chinn is the UK-based director of the Special Risks Response team. This is a large and globally dispersed, multi-lingual team who support clients facing extreme crises such as kidnap, hijack and extortion. Toby has worked in security consultancy since 2004 when he helped to set up armed security services for clients entering Iraq. Since then he has gained wide experience in roles including political risk analysis, third-party due diligence, strategic cyber threat intelligence and cyber security, and crisis response. He previously worked in the UK’s Diplomatic Service and in the British Army. Toby’s academic background is in the Middle East, having studied Arabic at university and in the Army and having spent much of his career supporting clients with operations in the region. He also speaks French and has a MBA from the École Supérieure de Commerce in Lyons.
