Philippines: LGBTQ activists to hold events, march in Metro Manila June 25

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) activists plan to hold events in Metro Manila for the annual Pride March and Festival. The Metro Manila Pride festival will take place at CCP Open Grounds in Pasay City from 10:00. Organizers have not yet publicized details of the parade; however, the march will begin at around 16:00 and likely start and end at CCP Open Grounds. Meanwhile, Pride PH, a national coalition of LGBTQ civic groups, will hold a festival and march near Quezon City Memorial Circle from 12:00. The parade, which will travel around the circle, will take place 15:00-17:00. The celebrations will likely attract a large turnout; more than 25,000 people attended pride events in the capital before the COVID-19 pandemic.

Authorities will almost certainly increase security around CCP Open Grounds, Quezon City Memorial Circle, and along the march routes. Increased pickpocketing and petty theft are possible in crowded areas. Road closures and traffic diversions are likely on the affected routes, prompting localized transport disruptions and congestion on adjacent roads.
