Two militants were killed after clashes broke out with security forces in the Dachan area of Kishtwar district (Jammu and Kashmir territory) on Friday, April 17. The encounter occurred during a joint police and military operation being undertaken in the area after security forces were informed of the presence of militants. Additional security forces have been deployed to the area to track down the remaining militants.
The fighting occurred in the same area where a Special Police Officer (SPO) was killed and another injured after they were attacked by militants armed with axes on Monday, April 13.
