Warning

Event

Online activists are calling for people to hold a march in the capital Buenos Aires on Saturday, January 18, to commemorate the death of Alberto Nisman. Supporters are being asked to march to Vatican Square in downtown Buenos Aires at 18:30 (local time). According to social media posts, associated rallies are also being called for in other cities across the country, organized under the slogan “#18EConNismanNO.” Some activists claim that Nisman, a former prosecutor who was found dead in his home in Puerto Madero on January 18, 2015, was murdered for investigating high-ranking government officials.

A heightened security presence and local traffic disruptions are expected around all protest sites.

Advice

Individuals in Buenos Aires are advised to keep abreast of the situation, avoid all protests as a precaution, anticipate transportation disruptions near demonstration sites, and adhere to instructions issued by local authorities.
