Death toll from attack on Sikh worship area in Kabul rises to 25 March 25; heightened security presence expected

Islamic State (IS)-affiliated gunmen and suicide bombers killed 25 people and wounded eight others in an attack on a Sikh religious complex in Kabul on Wednesday, March 25. Afghan security forces cleared the area and killed all of the attackers as of 14:30 (local time) on Wednesday. At least 80 people were rescued in the operation, according to an Interior Ministry spokesman.

A heightened security presence and localized disruptions are expected in the area over the coming hours.
