Event

Authorities in Nebraska have issued orders to lift most restrictions statewide as of Feb. 2 due to a decrease in coronavirus disease (COVID-19) activity and hospitalizations in recent weeks. The state has moved from the blue to the green phase of its reopening plan.

Under the new directives, which are in place through at least Feb, 28, the limits on indoor gatherings were lifted, though organizers of events with more than 500 people (more than 1,000 people in Douglas county) must still submit a health safety plan to their local health department. The state government continues to recommend restaurants and bars to allow no more than eight people per table and to ensure all customers are seated. The recommended minimum spacing between tables remains 1.8 meters (6 feet). In establishments such as childcare centers and personal care businesses, the use of facemasks is not mandatory, though it is encouraged as a precautionary measure. Elective surgeries may resume in hospitals statewide without restrictions.

All other businesses may operate without specific capacity restrictions but are urged to maintain certain health and safety practices, including social distancing measures and enhanced sanitation.

State authorities urge residents to avoid crowded places, close contact with others, and confined spaces. They also recommend travelers from abroad practice social distancing and monitor their symptoms when entering Nebraska.

Officials could extend or otherwise amend the orders with little-to-no advance notice depending on disease activity in the coming weeks.
