Meteorological authorities issue wind weather warnings nationwide April 16-17; associated transportation disruptions possible

The Estonian Weather Service forecast strong winds nationwide from Thursday, April 16, through Friday, April 17. In the west of the country, orange warnings (second highest of a four-tier scale) were issued where wind gusts of up to 98 kph (61 mph) are expected. Yellow warnings also cover eastern areas of the country. The inclement weather is expected to remain in effect until Friday morning (local time), before gradually weakening throughout the day countrywide.

Related transportation disruptions, hazardous driving conditions, and power outages are possible over the coming hours.
