Afghanistan: Warning of imminent attack in Kabul December 10

Local sources warn of possible imminent VBIED attack in Kabul December 10; heightened security presence expected over the coming days

As of Tuesday evening (local time), December 10, local sources have warned that a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) attack targeting coalition and international community base locations in Kabul may be imminent. Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) reportedly interdicted a vehicle in the Khwaja Rawash district of Kabul laden with explosives, suicide vests, ANDSF uniforms, and firearms. Sources added that any potential attack is likely to be initiated after working hours (local time).

A heightened security presence is to be expected in Kabul over the coming days.

Individuals in Kabul are advised to avoid areas near government buildings and other national institutions, report suspicious objects and behavior to police, remain vigilant for militant activity, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities and their home governments.

The security environment in Afghanistan remains complex. Professional security advice and support should be sought prior to travel.
