Curfew in Paletwa (Chin state) extended through March 8; remain vigilant

Authorities announced on Wednesday, January 8, that the ongoing nighttime curfew in Paletwa (Chin state) has been extended until Sunday, March 8, amid security concerns and Arakan Army (AA) militant activity in the area. The curfew, first declared on Saturday, November 9, 2019, will remain in place from 18:00 to 06:00 (local time). Gathering of more than five people will also be restricted during this period.

Heightened security measures, nightly movement restrictions, and ongoing tensions are to be expected in the area.

Individuals in Chin state are advised to monitor developments to the situation, remain vigilant for militant and military activity, and adhere to instructions issued by local authorities and their home governments.
