A landslide on Monday, December 31, killed at least 15 people in Sukabumi regency (West Java province), according to a National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) spokesman on Tuesday, January 1. The landslide struck the village of Sirnaresmi around 18:00 (local time) on Monday, destroying 30 homes. Rescuers are still searching for 20 missing persons. Heavy rains in Indonesia over the past week has caused multiple landslides. Further landslides remain a possibility in the near-term.
