Poland: Women’s rights demonstration to be held in Warsaw on November 28

Women’s rights groups plan large scale demonstrations in Warsaw and other cities for November 28; localized disruptions likely

Women's rights groups have announced plans to hold large scale demonstrations in Warsaw and other cities on Saturday, November 28, as part of a continuing campaign against recent changes to abortion legislation. The largest demonstrations are expected to be held in the capital, with demonstrators expected to gather at the Palace of Culture and Science in the city center from 17:00 (local time). Demonstrations are also planned in Gdansk, Krakow, Lodz, Olsztyn, and Zakopane on Saturday, but locations and timings are yet to be confirmed.

A heightened police presence at protest sites is to be expected, with disruptions to transportation and business likely.

Those in Poland are advised to monitor the situation, minimize time spent in the vicinity of demonstrations, anticipate a heightened police presence and localized disruptions, and adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities.
