Civil society groups plan protests against Trump and NATO in several cities on December 2, 3; heightened security presence and localized transportation disruptions expected

Civil society groups have scheduled protests in several cities on Monday, December 2, and Tuesday, December 3, to oppose NATO practices and the administration of US President Donald Trump. On Monday, participants plan to gather at 16:30 at High Street in Birmingham. On Tuesday in London, protesters will gather at Trafalgar Square at 16:00, march to Buckingham Palace at 17:00, before reaching Canada Gate at 17:45. Festivities will later begin at 19:00 at Buckingham Gate. On the same day in Glasgow, demonstrators plan to meet at 17:00 on Buchanan Street.

The protests come ahead of a NATO Heads of State Summit in London on Tuesday, through Wednesday, December 4. The summit will take place at the Grove Hotel and local authorities have said that a security perimeter will be established in the vicinity hotel. Increased security measures are to be expected throughout the capital during the summit.

Associated transportation disruptions and a heightened security presence are to be expected near all protest sites. Similar protests are possible in major urban areas.

Individuals in London, Birmingham, and Glasgow are advised to monitor developments to the situation, prepare for transportation disruptions, make alternative arrangements if necessary, and avoid all protests as a precaution.
