Strong dust winds are forecast to hit several southern districts of Algeria on Thursday, May 11, with winds as strong as 80 km/h (50 mph). The concerned wilayas (districts) are Bechar, Adrar, El Bayadh, Ghardaïa, Laghouat, Ouargla, and El Oued. Disruptions to ground transportation are possible in affected areas as road visibility may be reduced.

This dust could be hazardous to vulnerable individuals, such as children and people suffering from asthma or other respiratory issues.

Weather conditions are expected to return to normal on Friday, May 12.
