Azerbaijan: Major events in Baku in May and June 2017
Islamic Solidarity Games and Formula 1 European Grand Prix to take place in Baku May 12-22 and June 23-25; increased security, traffic disruptions expected

Two major events will take place in Baku in May and June 2017, leading to an increase in security and anticipated traffic disruptions.
From May 12 to 22, Baku will host the fourth edition of the Islamic Solidarity Games. During the games, localized traffic disruptions are likely around Baku National Stadium and Baku Aquatics Center.
From June 23 to 25, the 2017 Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix will take place in Baku. The race circuit will pass by Azadliq Square, the Government House, the Maiden Tower, the Old city, and Neftchilar Avenue. Traffic in the area of the circuit will be completely blocked during the race.
