Strong winds and rain result in traffic disruptions and power outages in Wales June 6

The Met (weather) Office issued a yellow weather warning for rain in effect Tuesday, June 6, for Wales and northwest England. They have warned of possible localized flooding. Driving conditions in these areas have been rendered hazardous due to heavy rain and possible fallen trees, including in Ceredigion and Newport counties.

Moreover, strong winds and heavy rain have resulted in power outages. Some 450 homes lost power overnight June 5-6 in Monmouthshire county. Outages have also been reported in Rhondda Cynon Taff, Caerphilly, Newport, and Powys counties.

Individuals in the abovementioned areas are advised to keep abreast of weather forecasts, to be cautious when driving, to confirm travel reservations and to be prepared for disruptions to public transit.
