Malaysia: Floods to recede in Kedah and Perlis states Sep. 25

Floods in Kedah and Perlis states are expected to recede in the coming days following the conclusion of high tide in the region, according to a statement released by the Malaysian Civil Defense Force on Sunday, September 24. Though rain has ceased and floodwaters are to begin their retreat in earnest from the affected areas on Monday, the number of evacuees at emergency relief centers in Kedah and Perlis states is continuing to rise: as of Sunday morning (local time), Kedah state recorded 2873 flood evacuees seeking emergency shelter, which increased from 2280 on Saturday night. In total, as of 08:00 on Sunday, Kedah and Perlis states recorded 4443 flood victims at 37 relief centers across both states.
