Kenya: Fake e-visa websites target foreign visitors

Diplomatic officials warn of fake e-visa application websites targeting foreign visitors; only use official government e-visa website

Informational

Event

Kenyan diplomatic officials are warning that a number of fake websites purporting to offer e-visas for travel to Kenya have sprung up, targeting visitors to the country. The e-visa scam websites are designed to trick users by resembling the official government e-visa website, but are instead used to collect personal information and higher than normal fees (up to USD 120) without delivering the requested visa.

Advice

Individuals requiring a Kenyan visa are advised to remain alert to the risk of fraudulent websites and to use the official e-visa website or contact the nearest Kenyan consulate for more information.
