Togo: Education sector strike Feb. 7-9

Teacher unions are holding a 72-hour nationwide strike starting from Wednesday, February 7, to demand payment of bonuses. Associated demonstrations are possible in the capital Lomé and other locations during the course of strike.

Context

Togolese education workers have held a series of strikes since March 2017, including a 72-hour strike launched January 30, 2018, in protest of the government's alleged violations of a January 2017 agreement with teacher unions.  Public sector workers are also on strike February 4-8.
