Afghanistan: Bomb attack targets private security vehicles in Kabul March 17

At least four people were injured in a vehicle borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) attack against two private security company vehicles between Jalalabad road and Russia road (Kabul city) on Saturday, March 17. Local sources report that the company involved was operating in support of foreign embassy personnel.

The latest incident, the second in the area in March 2018, highlights how anti-government elements are actively targeting private security teams associated with foreign governments in Kabul city. Increased security measures are forcing militants to target mobile teams outside and on the periphery of the zone. Individuals are advised to ensure that mobile profiles remain dissimilar to those commonly associated with government programs, in order to mitigate the risk of being targeted.
