Cuba: Cubana de Aviación suspends domestic flights

Cubana de Aviación, Cuba’s national airline, suspends most or all of its domestic flights until further notice

Warning

Event

Cubana de Aviación, Cuba’s national airline, has suspended most or all of its domestic flights until further notice, apparently due to a lack of aircraft. It remains unclear when exactly the suspension was ordered (some point in late March) or how long it will remain in effect. Ticket sales have also been suspended.

There are conflicting reports regarding the extension of the cancelations. According to some sources, no domestic flights are operating to and from the provinces of Camagüey or Granma but some flights are still operating out of airports in Santiago de Cuba, Holguín, and Nueva Gerona (albeit at a reduced rate). Other sources are saying all domestic flights are grounded.

Context

International services to and from Paris (France), Santiago (Cuba), and Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic) have also been suspended since the beginning of the year.

Advice

Travelers are advised to use other airlines or other means of transportation and to contact Cubana de Aviación for more information.
