All outbound flights canceled at London Stansted Airport due to bus fire March 30; normal flight operations to resume March 31

Warning

Event

A shuttle bus parked outside the terminal at London Stansted Airport (STN) caught fire shortly before 16:00 (local time) on Friday, March 30, prompting airport authorities to cancel all departing flights until midnight and close the airport for the rest of the day. Train service to and from STN was suspended due to the blaze, and some arriving flights were diverted to land at other airports.

The fire was reportedly caused by an engine electrical issue. STN authorities have announced that the fire has been extinguished and that there were no associated casualties. STN will be reopened on Saturday, March 31, and flight operations are expected to be normal.

Advice

Travelers planning on traveling to, from, or through STN are advised to confirm the status of their flights prior to departure for the airport and to contact their airline for more information.
