Disruptions to air, road, and rail in the United Kingdom due to snowstorm continue March 2

Heavy snow and cold weather continue to cause transportation disruptions throughout the United Kingdom as of Friday, March 2. Air and rail disruptions, as well as hazardous driving conditions, are to be anticipated in coming hours. The UK Met Office has issued yellow alerts due to snow and icy conditions for much of the country, which are expected to last through Saturday, March 3.

In Scotland, Glasgow International Airport (GLA) and Edinburgh International Airport (EDI) were closed from the afternoon of Thursday, March 1, to the morning of Friday, March 2. Both Ryanair and EasyJet cancelled all Friday flights in and out of GLA and EDI. Disruptions at various other airports throughout the UK are also to be anticipated. Severe rail disruptions were also reported throughout the country on Thursday and Friday. All Friday trains between Edinburgh and Glasgow have been suspended by ScotRail. Disruptions on various other lines are also expected.
