Trinidad and Tobago: US military exercises planned April 16-26

Trinidad and Tobago to host the US for military exercise Fused Response from April 16-26

Informational

Event

US military officials announced in late-March that Trinidad and Tobago would host military exercises from Monday, April 16, through Thursday, April 26. This marks the first time Trinidad and Tobago will host the "Fused Response" annual multilateral exercise. Barbados will also provide logistical and staging support for portions of the exercise. The exercises will take place several miles from the Venezuelan coast.

Context

Officials have stated that the exercise aims to build up the capacities of US defense partners and expand international cooperation. The exercise, held annually, includes realistic scenarios that test regional stability and challenge the skills of participants.

Advice

Individuals present in Trinidad and Tobago are advised to anticipate a heavier than usual security presence as well as possible transportation disruptions surrounding the exercise site.
