UK: Yellow alerts for heavy rains April 2-3

Yellow alerts issued for heavy rain April 2- 3

Warning

Event

The Met Office has issued yellow weather alerts (the first in a three point scale) for heavy rain on Monday, April 2 and Tuesday, April 3 across much of the UK. Snow is also forecast over parts of Scotland on Monday and Tuesday. The Met Office has warned of flooding, possible power cuts and loss of communication services, dangerous road conditions, and associated delays to travel. Major road congestion is likely due to heavy traffic as a result of the Easter holiday.

Advice

Individuals are advised to monitor for updated forecasts and alerts from the Met Office. Prepare for delays to travel.

Remember that driving or walking through running water can be dangerous - 15 cm (6 in) of running water is enough to knock over an adult - and that floodwater may contain wastewater or chemical products; all items having come into contact with the water should be disinfected and all foodstuffs discarded.
