Haiti: Anti-government protest in Port-au-Prince May 18

Event

Various student and civil society groups are calling for a protest to take place in the capital Port-au-Prince on Friday, April 18. The demonstration - organized to denounce the current government as well as increases in fuel prices and various other issues - will coincide with the so-called Flag and University Day. Demonstrators will gather in front of the ENS school (École Normale Supérieure) and march to the campus of the UeH University (Université d'Etat d'Haïti). Demonstrations in other Haitian cities are also possible. 

Further protests to denounce the increase in fuel prices - set to take effect in June - are likely in the coming weeks.
