US authorities implement enhanced security measures for all commercial flights to the United States

On June 28, the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced that increased security measures would be implemented in the coming weeks and months on all commercial flights to the United States. Measures include reinforced screening of passengers, personal electronics, and substances (e.g. dense foods and powders), additional preclearance facilities, and strengthened aircraft and airport security standards. According to the DHS, these measures will impact 105 countries, 280 airports, 180 airlines, 2100 daily flights, and an average of 325,000 daily passengers. According to the DHS statement, failure by aviation stakeholders to implements these new measures within established timeframes may be subject to additional security restrictions.
