Uzbekistan: Officials launch electronic visa program for business travelers
Uzbekistan launches electronic visa (e-visa) program to attract investment July 15
Event
On Sunday, July 15, Uzbekistan's visa application website for business travelers became active. Business travelers will now be able to obtain a single-entry visa allowing for a stay of up to 30 days within 90 days of approval. A similar electronic visa for tourists was launched on July 1. Under the new program, visas can be requested and paid for online on the official government website. If authorities approve the request, a visa should be granted within three working days. The visa costs roughly UZS 156,000 (USD 20). The change to an online system comes as the government attempts to attract foreign visitors and investment.
In a related development, starting July 15, citizens from 101 countries in Uzbek airports may enter Uzbekistan visa-free for up to five days in transit to a third country.
Advice
Individuals requiring a visa for Uzbekistan are advised to remain alert to the risk of fraudulent websites and to use the official Uzbekistan government website or contact the nearest Uzbekistan Embassy or Consulate for more information.
