Two wounded in magnetic IED explosion in Kart-e-Char area of Kabul August 2; security cordons lifted

At least two people were wounded when a magnetic improvised explosive device (MIED) detonated at approximately 19:30 (local time) in the Kart-e-Char area of Kabul on Thursday, August 2. According to local sources, the target of the attack was a government vehicle parked in the Blue Swimming Pool parking lot, located near the Police District (PD) 3 police headquarters. Police cordons put in place after the incident have reportedly been lifted and local traffic has returned to normal. It is unclear who is responsible for the blast.
