Severe flooding was reported on the afternoon (local time) of Friday, August 24, in Eldoret (Uasin Gishu county), following the overflow of a river in Kapseret caused by heavy rains. As Friday evening, it is unclear if the flooding has led to any casualties or material damage. Nevertheless, severe transportation disruptions have been reported on roads near Eldoret International Airport (EDL). Flight disruptions (including delays and cancelations) are possible in the coming hours. Further flooding is possible in the near-term as heavy rains are forecast in Eldoret through early September.
