Thailand: Electronic banking services currently affected
Electronic banking services of several banks suffer technical problems; return of services expected during the day
Event
On the morning of August 31, the electronic services (ATMs, mobile and internet banking) of several Thai banks (Kasikornbank, Krungthai Bank, Thanachart Bank and Krungsri Bank) were affected by technical problems. According to the Thai Bankers Association, the problem started with a malfunctioning in Kasikornbank, which affected other banks sharing a joint switching system. Most services are being gradually restored through the day.
Context
Individuals present in Thailand may experience some banking services disruptions throughout the day (e.g. when using ATMs and withdrawing money).
Advice
On a separate note, individuals traveling to Thailand need to be aware that immigration officials may ask foreign nationals for evidence of adequate finances equivalent to 10,000 baht (about 305 US$) per person, or 20,000 baht (about 610 US$) per family.
