On Monday, September 10, Afghan authorities announced that nearly 40 security personnel members had been killed in a series of attacks carried out by Taliban insurgents in the north of the country over the previous two days. In Kundunz province, at least 13 were killed in an attack on a checkpoint. In Jawzjan province, the Taliban attacked Khamyab district on various fronts. In Samangan province, 14 local Afghan policemen were killed.
