Irish and UK meteorological departments warn of high intensity rainfall and strong winds on Monday, September 17, and Tuesday, September 18, due to the passing of Tropical Storm Helene. The storm is expected to move quickly across Ireland, delivering heavy rain and strong rains, particularly on the southern and southeastern coasts. The UK Met is predicting winds of 88-105 km/h (55-65 mph) are likely, with isolated gusts of up to 112-129 km/h (70-80 mph), particularly in the western portion of the country. Continued rain is expected to last through the week. Significant disruptions are not expected but there remains a possibility for localized flooding, power outages, and transportation disruptions and delays.
