Heavy rain has led to severe flooding throughout North Korea. According to reports, at least 76 people were killed between August 28 and September 7. In addition, an estimated 800 buildings were destroyed and at least 75 people have been reported missing amid the flooding. Further flooding is possible in the near-term as heavy rain is forecast through Friday, September 7

Individuals present in the affected areas are advised to keep abreast of local weather forecasts, and adhere to any instructions issued by local authorities. Please be advised that driving or walking through running water can be dangerous - 15 cm (6 in) of running water is enough to knock over an adult - and that floodwater may contain wastewater or chemical products; all items having come into contact with the water should be disinfected and all food discarded.
