Philippines: At least 16 killed following Typhoon Mangkhut Sep. 15 /update 6

As of the evening (local time) of Saturday, September 15, Typhoon Mangkhut, known locally as Ompong, has moved away from Philippines' northern island of Luzon. As of 20:00 (local time) on Saturday, Mangkhut was located 257 km (160 mi) northwest from Laoag, moving west-northwest towards the Chinese coast. Authorities have confirmed that at least 16 people were killed in flooding and landslides. Severe material damage, as well as transportation disruptions and power and telecommunications outages, have been reported throughout Luzon. Residual flights delays are expected through Sunday, September 16. Continued power, telecommunication, and ground transportation disruptions are anticipated in the coming hours and days as recovery efforts continue.
