A landslide killed three people on the central Philippines island of Cebu on the morning (local time) of Thursday, September 20. Local police reported that part of a mountain in Naga in central Cebu collapsed around 06:00 following heavy rain, burying at least 20 homes and killing three people. Rescue and recovery efforts are underway to reach others feared to be buried in the debris. The rain and landslide were unrelated to Typhoon Mangkhut, which hit northern Philippines on September 15.
