Following an accident involving a person on the tracks at Himeji station (Hyogo prefecture), severe disruptions were reported on the high-speed Shinkansen rail network between Shin-Osaka station (Osaka prefecture) and Hakata (Fukoka prefecture) as of the evening (local time) of Friday, October 19. Disruptions were also reported between Shin-Osaka and Tokyo. According to rail officials, services resumed at 21:00. Nevertheless, residual disruptions are possible in the coming hours.
